Navy Madras Pouch- This drawstring bag or pouch is ideal as a project bag -- knitting, sewing, etc.) or go-anywhere bag. Traditionally these "Boro" bags were repaired and strengthened for extended use with hand-stitching and added patchwork fabrics. This one begins it's life sturdy.
I designed the four panels around the blue, patchwork madras fabric. I am mad for madras and this one has all my favorite colors. You will see examples of sashiko stitching (the field of flowers), and the plain running stitch in concentric circles. The pocket is from Japanese fabric ( I see as waves), so a cloud formed above it! Another panel features a min-loomed cross. The lining is charcoal dots and contrasting cotton for the drawstring tabs. The bottom panel is a sturdy, navy ticking. Many hours (lovingly) went into producing this 7 x 7" pouch.
